Merry Christmas!

I had to take Max to get his blood drawn to check his thyroid level. Needless to say it was pretty traumatic (for us both). On the way out, I tried to distract him by pointing out a Christmas tree. I said, "Max, did you see the pretty tree? What kind of tree is that?" of course expecting him to say "a Christmas tree." His reply: "I think it's an evergreen."

The other night Max and I had this conversation:

Max: Mom, I want an iphone for Christmas.

Mom: An iphone?!

Max: Yeah, so I can play angry birds.

Mom: Max, iphones are really expensive.

Max: Like how much?

Mom: Like $200.

Max: Hmm...well, Santa can make me one.

Mom: It won't have angry birds.

Max: Uh, yeah...you get that from the internet!

Max's Dream Football Players

One of the things I love about Max (and maybe sometimes dread a little bit) is that he is constantly trying to create/recreate the things that he's currently obsessed with. Usually this means that we're drawing, coloring, cutting out, writing, etc. Sometimes he really get us to help him make something fantastic.

In October, Max got his grandpa to help him make a "gravichord" as seen on oddmusic.com.

His latest "creation" was these football players. Max is a fan of the BSU Broncos (I wonder where he got that from?) and he begged me to help him make some players. So behold: Kellen Moore and Doug Martin.

Max has been thrilled with the results. They sleep on the desk next to his bed (and they can only get out of their beds for the same reasons that Max can: to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water). And when I asked him if he like them, he said, "Mom! These are the football players that I dreamed of!"

Let's hope the real Moore & Martin keep playing like the players of MY dreams!

Max: Mom! When I grow up, I'm going to be the quarterback so I can throw the ball for a touch down for a new team, the Titanics!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Madeleine loved Thanksgiving!

Max...not so much.

Well, at least he likes school!

I went to parent/teacher conference and we're talking about an assessment test that they give the kids to see how reading ready they are and she is sharing with me the section in which the teacher provides a word and the child supplies a rhyming word. Max did great, picking rhyming words for each of the provided word, but I don't remember what any of them were, except:

three: pee

shoe: poo

When I got home I said to Max, "Maybe when we're at school we could pick other words to rhyme than pee."

He said, "You know, pea. Like the green one? Like the one you eat!"

"Mmhm. Well let's not pick the word poo."

"You know, Pooh! Like the name!"

"Like Winnnie the Pooh?"

"Yeah!"

Yeah right.

But I know that he loves school, because I asked Max if he was sad he didn't have school during the break and he said, "I miss Mrs. Mather. I like her so much! I'm going to school on Thanksgiving to see her!"

Melt my heart...

We were cuddling the other night and Max says to me,

"Mom, I love you so much, if skies were grey, you'd make me happy!"
